Portfolio: Work Samples

This guide provides quick access to quality resources relevant to Portfolio.

Evidence of Knowledge & Abilities

Work samples comprise a major portion of your portfolio and are proof of your knowledge and skills. They add to your credibility, and instead of just telling someone what you have done, you can show examples of your work. Work samples can include reports, menus, photos of projects, artwork, documents, etc. (Williams & Hall, 2001).

Additional Documentation

Examples of additional documentation to include in your portfolio:

  • Certificates of participation
  • Customer evaluations
  • Letters of appreciation for service learning projects or volunteering
  • Work placement evaluations
  • OH & S certificates
  • WHMIS certificates
  • Awards
  • Thank you cards from clients
  • Photos/videos of participation in skills competitions
