Like speaking, writing is a productive skill. This means that when we write, we are producing language to communicate information. We use our writing skills in many ways, including: texts, taking phone messages, emails, letters, keeping logbooks, for instructions, reports, quotes for work (e.g. quotes for customers who need electrical work done, etc.) and so on.
Developing writing skills takes time and revision. The NSCC Writing Guide has resources to help you with:
- Planning & Getting Started
- Organization
- Grammar & Punctuation
- Note-Taking Strategies
- Subject-specific writing (e.g. writing for healthcare, etc.)
Visit the NSCC Writing Guide for support in writing. You can also visit the NSCC Writing Centre Connect page for scheduling and booking information. Note: you will be asked to log in with your NSCC credentials.
