This guide provides quick access to quality resources relevant to Portfolio.

About Resumes

It is important to select the right type of resume for your professional and personal situation. A resume is usually a short, formal document that you provide potential employers.  Your resume outlines your professional employment experience, your education and training and your technical skills.

Types of Resumes

Chronological Resumes: This is a resume that lists your work history in reverse chronological order (starting with your most recent job). This type of resume allows you to emphasize your work experience.

Example of Chronological Resume

Functional Resumes: A functional resume focuses on your skills and experience, rather than on your chronological work history. It can be used by individuals who are changing careers or those who have gaps in their employment history. Your skills and capabilities are emphasized to highlight your abilities.

Combination or Hybrid Resumes: A combination/hybrid resume is a combination of both a functional resume and a chronological resume. A hybrid resume focuses on skills but also includes titles and dates of previous employment as well as relevant information about the person.
