NSCC Libraries has FIVE Streaming Video Collections:
Films from these FOUR collections can be shown in the classroom and can be viewed off-campus.You can embed videos from these collections into Brightspace. Your students will have immediate access without ever having to leave the course platform.
Each of our streaming video collections provides embed code for films and or segments.
Criterion-on-Demand does not have embed codes. BUT you can still link to these films in Brightspace. Here's how:
Films on Demand
*Films on Demand has a Plug-In for Brightspace that allows you to search fo and add FOD content directly into your course! Here's how to use the Plug-in Tool :
If you do NOT see the Plug-in Tool listed, please consult with your Instructional Designer to have it installed.
If you are in a hurry, you can embed the video code:
Locate the film you wish to embed. Click on Share (bottom left of film). You will see the Embedding code. You can choose a size for embedding. Copy the embed code.
*You can use the Permalink provided to link to the film rather than embed.
For free and public NFB content, locate the film you wish to embed. Click on EMBED (beneath the film). Copy the embed code provided. Off-site users WILL NOT be prompted for their w# and password.
*CAMPUS films cannot be embedded.
The best way to provide students access to a CAMPUS film is to create a playlist and add films to that. Then link to the playlist; students can view the CAMPUS film off-site. to create a playlist you must have a NFB CAMPUS Account. Please contact your Campus Library for help.
To embed Montie films, use the Video URL, this is a link to the video. Locate the film you wish to embed. Click on MORE INFO. Click on EMBED (upper right corner of window) > Video URL. Copy the link BUT remove the proxy prepend. Off-site users will be prompted for their w# and password.
Step 1. Get the embed code.
Step 2. In the Module where you wish to embed the video, click on New.
Step 3. Click Video or Audio.
Step 4. In the field that says Enter URL or Embed Code, paste the embed code copied from the Streaming Video platform.
Step 5. Title your video.
Step 6. Select Preview.
Step 7. Click Save.
NOTE: You might need to go and Edit Link again – and remove the proxy prepend again.
Please contact Leigh Gagnier for assistance.
IMPORTANT: Faculty and staff embedding LinkedIn Learning Links in courses or email messages should inform students/users that they will need to log in to LinkedIn Learning as per the instructions on the NSCC LinkedIn Learning Guide [https://subjectguides.nscc.ca/LinkedinLearning]. Once the user is logged in, they can access single videos, a full course, or a Learning Path.
