Online Tools at NSCC: WHMIS (SAFE 1000) / OHS (SAFE 1001)

This guide is meant to help students navigate NSCC online tools..

WHMIS (SAFE 1000) and OHS (SAFE 1001)

As an NSCC student, you are required to take two online safety courses (with the exception of those enrolled in the Adult learning Program):

  • Introduction to Workplace Hazardous Materials Information Systems (SAFE 1000)
  • Introduction to Nova Scotia Occupational Health and Safety Act (SAFE 1001)

Watch your NSCC email for instructions on how to take these courses, or learn how to access these courses on Connect.

NSCC is committed to safety education. All students (with the exception of those enrolled in the Adult Learning Program) are required to take Introduction to Workplace Hazardous Materials Information Systems (SAFE 1000) and Introduction to Nova Scotia Occupational Health & Safety Act (SAFE 1001). Students who start classes in September need to complete these two courses by September 30; students beginning programs at other times during the year are expected to complete them within four weeks of starting school.
