NSCC and Goal 13

Examples of NSCC initiatives that are helping to advance Goal 13: Climate Action.

NSCC Climate Change Action Plan (CCAP)

The NSCC Climate Change Action Plan (CCAP) outlines a pathway for our institution to make a significant impact on the sustainable development of our province as we work with our communities to address climate change. Through continuous improvements, the College aims for net-zero emissions by 2050.

Centre for the Built Environment (CBE) With an emphasis on sustainable building practices, environmental stewardship and collaborative learning, the Centre for the Built Environment (CBE) at Ivany Campus represents a new educational model. The CBE is an example of restorative building design, blending elements of the 'natural' environment with the 'built' environment, with features like a green roof, living walls, solar and wind energy, and geothermal systems.
NSCC Applied Energy Research

The NSCC Applied Energy Research (AER) team develops and tests sustainable energy alternatives and has extensive experience in solar energy technologies, monitoring devices and microgrids. Through grant-based research, AER works with local industry and community partners to reduce greenhouse gases by analyzing energy hardware, software and data analytics to generate new energy products and services.
