Goal 16, Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions, aims to promote peaceful and inclusive societies that provide justice for all. This goal calls for an end to abuse, exploitation, trafficking and violence, particularly against children. It also strives to develop effective and transparent institutions at all levels.

NSCC and Goal 16

Examples of NSCC initiatives that are helping to advance Goal 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions.

Criminal Justice

NSCC’s Criminal Justice program contributes to community safety through a focus on rehabilitation, communication and critical thinking. Responsive justice program leads to improved peace in communities.

Public Accountability Public Accountability is one of NSCC’s core values. The College strives to centre transparency and public trust in the work that we do every day by consistently working with integrity.
Committees for Justice and Safety

Just institutions are equitable institutions, which is one of the reasons that NSCC maintains a number of committees to guide and oversee equitable operations of the college. NSCC has an Accessibility Advisory Committee, Black Community Council, NSCC-Mi’kmaq Joint Committee, and a Sexual Violence Prevention and Education Committee.
